Ship owner identity exposed! China Shipbuilding Corporation Chengxi has received orders for two MR t

The shipowner information of the two MR type finished oil tanker orders signed by China Shipbuilding Chengxi at the beginning of this year has finally been exposed.

According to foreign media reports, Greek shipowner Prodigy ordered two 50000 deadweight ton finished oil tankers from China Shipbuilding Corporation Chengxi in January this year, which are expected to be delivered in 2026. The estimated cost of each vessel is around 45 million US dollars, and the total transaction amount is about 90 million US dollars (approximately 651 million yuan).

As a reference, Clarkson data shows that the current cost of a 47000-51000 deadweight ton MR product oil tanker has reached $49.5 million, an increase of 9% compared to $45.5 million in the same period last year.

It is understood that the 50000 ton finished oil tanker is a high-tech and high-performance ship type independently developed by China Shipbuilding Chengxi, with performance indicators reaching an international leading position. This type of ship has a large cargo capacity and strong loading and unloading capacity. It has a total of 7 cargo compartments and is equipped with independent cargo pipes and hydraulic submersible pumps, which can simultaneously load 7 types of goods. Meeting the Tier III emission requirements of the International Maritime Organization and the third stage standards of ship energy efficiency index, it has reached the international advanced level.

This order marks Prodigy's first foray into the MR refined oil tanker market. However, the company has previously ordered four 82000 deadweight ton Kamsarmax bulk carriers from China Shipbuilding Corporation Chengxi, and these four new ships were delivered and put into operation last year. According to Clarkson data, in addition to the four ships from China Shipbuilding Chengxi, the company also has three 82000 deadweight ton bulk carriers from Yangzhou COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry in its fleet.

Prodigy's order is one of the 12 new ship orders undertaken by China Shipbuilding Chengxi in the first quarter of this year. Previously, China Shipbuilding Chengxi announced that the company will undertake 12 new shipbuilding projects and repair 49 ships in the first quarter of this year, exceeding the first quarter target and achieving a significant increase year-on-year.

China Shipbuilding Chengxi did not disclose specific information about the relevant orders, but it is understood that four orders for 50000 ton MR finished oil tankers came from Intercontinental Shipping, and four orders for 82600 deadweight ton methanol dual fuel bulk carriers came from Fumao Group. In addition, Greek shipowner W Marine earlier confirmed that two 82000 deadweight ton Kamsarmax bulk carriers were ordered from China Shipbuilding Corporation Chengxi. Therefore, out of the 12 orders of China Shipbuilding Chengxi, only the last 2 orders of MR type ships have not been publicly disclosed.

Since the first quarter of this year, China Shipbuilding Corporation Chengxi has completed and delivered 5 new shipbuilding projects, and completed and repaired 39 ships before leaving the factory. China Shipbuilding Chengxi focuses on the rhythm of shipbuilding production, achieving a 100% on-time delivery rate. Among them, the key period of the 63500 ton bulk carrier on the 66th broke the record, the 37000 ton asphalt carrier on the 3rd set the shortest construction period of the same type of ship, and the 70000 ton sawdust carrier on the 7th was delivered 107 days ahead of the contract delivery date. At the same time, China Shipbuilding Chengxi has successfully completed the installation of the deep sea green intelligent test vessel section, and all construction projects are progressing according to plan.

In terms of technological innovation, China Shipbuilding Chengxi has been deeply engaged in independent research and development. The research and construction of a 26000 ton self unloading ship with double tail fin electric propulsion has won the second prize of the China Shipbuilding Engineering Society's Science and Technology Progress Award, and the full independent development of a high-performance 40000 ton self unloading ship has won the first prize of the Jiangsu Society of Engineers Science and Technology Achievement Award.

In addition, by strengthening product quality control, China Shipbuilding Chengxi achieved a dual decrease in the average number of single ship policies and the proportion of total maintenance costs to the total contract amount in the first quarter; A six dimensional cost engineering indicator system has been established, and the Cost Engineering Assessment Method has been revised to achieve full process, full coverage, and full staff assessment of cost engineering assessment.

Next, China Shipbuilding Chengxi will continue to implement the "three wins" concept, strive to strengthen value creation, continuously deepen lean management throughout the process, comprehensively benchmark against world-class standards, and enhance brand recognition and recognition.
