Perfect ending 75 days in advance! Naming and Delivery of Changhong International's 8th 2500TEU Ship

At 10:38 am on April 18th, Changhong International held a grand naming and delivery ceremony for the 8th 2500 container ship "KAPITAN MASL" (CHB2022) built for the shipowner Uei Logistics at the company's Phase II terminal.

Senior leaders from shipowners, ship management companies, Jiangsu Financial Leasing, Jihui Ship Brokerage, Tiantai Container, Yinglao Classification Society, MAN Engine, SMT Supervision, CIMC Group, and Changhong International gathered together to discuss friendship and seek common development. With the successful delivery of the ship, Changhong's construction of eight 2500 box series container ships for the shipowner Shangjing Logistics has come to a perfect conclusion.

The 2500 container ship, as the first project of cooperation between Changhong International and Uei Logistics, has received great attention from the company since the signing of the contract on March 31, 2021. Over the past three years, with the help of two major shareholders, New Yangtze River Group and CIMC Group, and the strong support of the shipowner and ship inspector, the Changhong Shipbuilding team has worked hard and strived for excellence, delivering each ship in advance with zero opinions on quality and quantity, creating value for the shipowner, winning reputation for themselves, and laying a solid foundation for further cooperation between the two parties.

This type of ship was developed and designed by CIMC ORIC, with a total length of 171.95 meters, a width of 32.2 meters, a depth of 16.7 meters, a designed speed of 18 knots, and is classified as LR classification society. This series is a new generation of "Bangkok's Largest" container ships developed by CIMC Design and Research Institute, with completely independent intellectual property rights. Compared with traditional Bangkok type container ships, it can stack two more rows of containers, and has the characteristics of large load capacity, large number of containers, energy conservation and environmental protection. This ship type has previously received bulk orders from international first-class shipowners such as Maersk.

Based on the operational characteristics of the shipowner's route, CIMC Design and Research Institute optimized the ship's line shape through multiple rounds of CFD and sent personnel to Europe for testing and verification at the Hamburg Ship Model Basin (HSVA) in Hamburg, Germany, ensuring excellent hydrodynamic performance. The EEDI meets the requirements of the third stage and is about 36% lower than the reference line.

At the same time, taking into full consideration the characteristics of the ship's profile and meeting the requirements of structural strength and construction, the design team optimized the overall layout design to achieve an astonishing nominal container capacity of 2471 TEU, far exceeding that of ships of the same scale. 14T/TEU homogeneous packing can achieve zero ballast and higher loading efficiency when leaving the port.

By establishing a finite element model of the entire ship, the yield and buckling strength of the main components of the ship were evaluated, and the composite stress of the main components was determined. Based on direct calculation, the traditional mode of synthesizing the bending stress and torsional buckling stress of container ships according to the empirical formula of classification society regulations was changed, making the calculation of ship structure response more reliable and accurate. The weight of the empty ship is reduced by about 10% compared to the same type of ship on the market, and the fuel consumption is more than 5% lower than that of the same type of ship.
