Solid rubber fender (non-floating type) has a longer application history and a wider range of applications as the dock ship anti-collision equipment. According to the stress situation of rubber fender, it can be divided into shear type, rotary type and compression type; according to the structure of the fender, solid rubber fender can be divided into D type, cone type, drum type, fan-shaped type, rectangular type and cylindrical fender type and so on.
Solid rubber fender has high energy absorption and reaction force, and it has the advantages of low cost, long service life and simple installation and maintenance. It is a protective device for docks and dockyards.
Floating rubber fender can float freely on the surface of the water. According to the different internal buffer medium, it can be divided into:
inflatable rubber fender and filled rubber fender. The inflatable rubber fender uses compressed air as the medium and it uses compressed air to do work to consume the impact energy; foam filled fender also known as solid polyurethane fender, its internal buffer medium is mainly closed cell foam material, such as EVA foam, polyurethane foam and rubber foam etc..
Due to the floating rubber fender's self-floating property, it is also particularly suitable for the installation of a dock with a large tidal fluctuation. Because of its advantages of maintenance free, long life and so on,the filled rubber fender is especially suitable for application in a bad environment, such as offshore drilling platform. The floating rubber fender is a new-type fender equipment. Compared with the solid rubber fender, the floating rubber fender is mainly characterized by high compression deformation, large energy absorption, small reaction force, self-floating and easy installation. It is usually used in ship to ship (ship to ship), ship to wharf barge, docking and other occasions.
